IG Scope:

The Image, Video and Mesh Coding (IMVIMEC) Interest Group provides a forum for discussion on a variety of IMVIMEC related activities and topics. In particular, this Interest Group will introduce and explore past and current trends in Image/Video/Mesh coding and standardization, determine areas of improvement and relationships with multimedia communications, and potentially suggest and contribute to new directions for image, video and mesh coding with a focus on new/emerging applications and improved user experience. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to

  • 2D video coding applications and standards,
  • high definition image and video compression,
  • compression of collections of images (ie large collections of similar images in the cloud)
  • high dynamic range imaging applications and compression systems,
  • scalable video coding systems and applications, and
  • stereo,multi-view and light field image and video coding
  • dynamic and time-varying mesh coding and compression
  • joint source and channel coding
  • network coding
  • Real-Time video coding
  • Hardware architectures for image/video processing (FPGAs, DSPs)
  • Perceptual image/video coding
  • Coding for adaptive streaming systems
  • Coding on mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, embedded systems, etc.)
