Munich, Germany, 2-3 Feb. 2015 The world’s 1st mixed reality ski competition organized by 3DLive took place at the 15th Wearable Technologies Conference Munich, Germany, 2-3 Feb 2015. A professional skier raced at Schladming (Austria), one of the word’s famous ski slopes, against two online gamers located in Munich and Thessaloniki, Greece. The “3D furniture search” mobile application enables search and retrieval of furniture using a smart phone running android operation system. The user can enter multiple types of queries such as text, images, sketches, location information, colour, price, etc. The search and retrieval tasks involve the discovery of furniture items, based on the similarity and/or relevance of the articles, with respect to the shape, the colour and the texture. The multimodal search engine is up and running: http://vcl.iti.gr/is/isearch/client/musebag/# The I-SEARCH project aims to provide a novel unified framework for multimodal content indexing, sharing, search and retrieval. The I-SEARCH framework will be able to handle specific types of multimedia and multimodal content (text, 2D image, sketch, video, 3D objects and audio) alongside with real world information, which can be used as queries and retrieve any available relevant content of any of the aforementioned types.
