Medical Follow Up Assessments of iPrognosis Application Users for Early Parkinson’s Disease Detection


We developed the "iPrognosis" Android smartphone application for unobtrusive remote data collection of behavioral changes being linked to motor and non-motor symptoms (NMS) of Parkinson's disease (PD). The medical evaluation was conducted as prospective longitudinal multicenter study in Greece, Germany and United Kingdom, involving early stage PD patients and healthy controls (HC), all using the iPrognosis application. The study encompasses physician and participant-based scales covering motor, NMS and health related QoL with baseline evaluations and six month follow-ups next to instrumental diagnostics. The iPrognosis app passively collects participants' behavioral data from the daily use of their smartphones, including voice features, accelerometer data for tremor (1), keystroke timing data (2) for brady-/hypokinesia and rigidity assessment.
