A mutual effort by the Visual Computing Lab and the Humanitas Research Hospital aims to provide doctors with an automated system for prioritizing patient treatment needs in order to augment their decision making process. By combining the expertise of VCL in computer vision, pattern recognition and medical imaging with anonymized data provided by Humanitas (CT-scans and X-Rays of COVID-19 patients, annotated by radiologists), the goal is to develop a system that can automatically recognize if a patient needs ICU admission, requires hospitalization but not intensive care, or can be discharged and monitored from their home.
