INTREPID will develop and validate a state-of-the-art, easy-to-deploy, secured and user-friendly platform employing Intelligence Amplification combined with eXtended Reality concepts and innovative autonomous cybernetic assistants to enhance the speed, range, and effectiveness of first responders, with particular focus on the safe exploration and assessment of complex and hazardous zones. INTREPID aims to revolutionize first responder operations in the earliest phases of a disaster when the chances to save lives are highest and operations are slowed by many types of uncertainties.
For this purpose, INTREPID has aggregated a complementary team coordinated of 4 world-class research organisations, 5 European leading SMEs, and a set of 7 first responder organisations carefully selected to provide multiple types of expertise (e.g. firefighting, search and rescue, law enforcement, threat detection and neutralisation, medical) at different levels, from first responders to special units. The workplan has been specifically designed to involve practitioners during the whole project through a User-centric iterative methodology enabling them to evaluate the system on a regular basis.
Several pilots using different scenarios (including natural disasters, industrial disasters and malicious attacks in public spaces) will be organised in professional training centres.
